How to cook your frozen Mass Provisions Chicken Pot Pie
Our pies are available frozen . . . we don't use preservatives, so we freeze our hand constructed pies to keep them fresh for you! When thawing a Chicken Pot Pie, use the refrigerator. Place the pie in the refrigerator 12-24 hours before cooking (for the 9" pies . . . the 6" pies probably need 4-6 hours). After thawing, place the pie in the preheated oven (350 degrees) and cook for 50-60 minutes. The pie will be done when the top pastry browns and bubbles a bit. You may cover the pie with aluminum foil for the last 20 minutes of cook time if you like. Allow the pie to cool for 20-30 minutes before serving.
It is possible to cook a frozen pie . . . the cook time will be longer, anywhere from 80 minutes to 2 hours for the 9 inch; the 6 inch will likely take 40-90 minutes. We definitely recommend covering the pie with aluminum foil for the first hour of cook time . . . again, preheat the oven to 350 before placing the pie inside.
